Adding Rotational Movements To Workouts

Adding Rotational Movements To Workouts

Woman Stretching Her Arm

Adding rotational movements to workouts is very beneficial in improving your overall stability. Top Apex Chiropractor Tri Myers of Omega Chiropractic Center - Sports Performance & Nutrition provides some easy exercises to do.

Exercises in Apex NC that you can add that help with your rotational movement:

  • Bird Dog
  • Scissor Stance Chop/Lift
  • Carrying positions: Overhead, Waiters, Farmers carry

Many athletes believe that deadlifts and squats are the only movement patterns to do but they are wrong. You need to think that your core goes way far beyond that 6 pack that is on the outside. And that means you need to get it out of your head that you should be doing more than leg raises for it.

You have three planes of motion:

  • Sagittal Plane: splits the body into right and left sides
  • Frontal Plane: divides the body into front and backsides
  • Transverse Plane: divides the body into top and bottom halves

In order to build a strong core and create more power, adding those exercises above will help with that. Just remember to think about the motion occurring in the area of the chest and developing hip range of motion both internally and externally. Watch our YouTube video on how to properly execute these exercises with the right form so that you aren’t hurting yourself.
